No API key and nothing runs locally. The plugin is open source at github.com/Orshot-HQ/orshot-openclaw, and an OpenClaw cron can call the same tools on a schedule.

### Plugin or skills: which should I install for Orshot?

The plugin, openclaw plugins install clawhub:orshot, is one install that registers the hosted MCP server and loads all four skills. Install the skills one by one only when you want a subset: @orshot/orshot is the main skill with the connect step, the render workflow and the gotchas that otherwise break renders (parameterId keys, page1@ prefixes, async video); @orshot/orshot-social-media-scheduler schedules and publishes posts; @orshot/orshot-carousel builds TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn carousels; @orshot/orshot-social-media-content designs templates per platform. All of it is on ClawHub and open source at github.com/Orshot-HQ/orshot-openclaw.

### Do I need an API key for Orshot in OpenClaw?

No. Add the server with --auth oauth and run openclaw mcp login orshot. Orshot supports dynamic client registration and PKCE, so OpenClaw handles the whole flow and refreshes the token on its own. An API key is only for headless scripts outside OpenClaw.

### Can OpenClaw post to Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok through Orshot?

Yes. Connect the accounts once in your Orshot dashboard, then the agent can render from a template and draft, schedule or publish the post in the same call, read analytics and pick the best time to post. Posts default to drafts until you say post.

### Can OpenClaw run Orshot renders on a schedule?

Yes. OpenClaw's cron and heartbeat features call the same MCP tools, so a weekly social graphic, a daily carousel or a monthly report can render and post without a prompt each time.

### Do the skills work without the MCP server?

They do over REST with an ORSHOT_API_KEY in the environment, but the MCP route is the one to use: no key to paste, inline previews of renders and templates, visual cards for social posts, and design checks when the agent creates a template.

Only the Orshot workspaces of the account that authorized it, over OAuth 2.0 with PKCE. The server receives tool calls and their inputs, never your conversation or files, and every call goes to Orshot's own API. Disconnect from your client at any time to end access.

### How are risky actions like delete or publish handled?

Every tool declares whether it reads or writes, and destructive actions carry an explicit annotation, so MCP clients ask for confirmation before running them. Read-only tools like listing templates can run without a prompt.

### Can OpenClaw post to my social accounts?

Yes, once you connect that account in your Orshot dashboard. After it is connected, OpenClaw can draft, schedule or publish to it. Rendering and everything else works without connecting any social account.
