# Orshot agent skills

> Content creation and social media skills for AI agents: one skill per job (social posts, carousels, reels, ads, YouTube thumbnails, blog images, PDFs) that teaches the agent to make it on your brand with Orshot, then post or schedule it. Base skills, installed with the rest: `orshot` (The API, render options, integrations and gotchas. Load it for any Orshot task); `orshot-design` (The craft rules every template follows: hierarchy, two fonts, one accent, a critique pass).

The video generator works as a pair with the social media content, carousel and ad creative skills: those pick the format and the copy, it builds the film.

## How a skill works

1. The agent looks for a template that already does the job (`orshot_list_studio_templates`) and reuses it.
2. Otherwise it calls `orshot_plan_design` with the job. That returns the formats real brands run for it (skeleton, size, fields, what makes each work) and the palette and type. It names the format it picked and reads the brand kit.
3. It designs one template with `orshot_create_template_design`, looks at the thumbnail and the design checks, and fixes real problems in one update.
4. It renders with real copy (`orshot_render_template`) and keeps the template, so every later post, ad or document is a render, not a redesign. Posting and scheduling go through the social media scheduler skill.

A skill needs the MCP server connected: the resources and tools it names do not exist without it. REST alone covers rendering, not template design.

## When to use a skill, and when not

- Use a skill when an agent should make finished, on-brand output from a brief, a sheet or a feed, and make the next one the same way.
- Use the MCP server without a skill for a one-off render of a template that already exists.
- Use the REST API or an SDK without an agent for a fixed pipeline in your own code: https://orshot.com/docs.
- Not for drawing a picture from a prompt: Orshot renders text, images and data into designed templates.
