We just shipped the Orshot VS Code Extension (Cursor, Antigravity soon) — and it turns your code editor into a design tool.
Open any Orshot template, describe what you want in plain English, and watch the AI make it happen. No context switching. No manual dragging. Just say what you need.
Get Started
- Install Orshot from the VS Code Marketplace
- Sign in with your Orshot account (Cmd/Ctrl + P > Orshot: Sign In)
- Open a template from the sidebar (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + O)
- Start chatting with
@orshotin Copilot Chat or use agent mode
What Can You Do With It?
- Edit templates with natural language — "Make the headline bigger", "Change the background to a gradient", "Add a new text element with the company tagline"
- Browse and manage templates — Your workspaces and templates show up right in the VS Code sidebar
- Visual editing — A built-in studio panel lets you see your template live as changes are applied
Works With the AI Tools You Already Use
The extension isn't locked to one AI provider. It works with:
- GitHub Copilot — Tools auto-register when you open a template. Just chat with Copilot and it can read, edit, and verify your designs.
- Claude Desktop & Cursor — A built-in MCP server exposes all editing tools to any MCP-compatible client.
- Copilot Agent Mode — The extension registers as a full agent, so Copilot can autonomously plan and execute multi-step design changes.
Ask @orshot in Copilot Chat, or use agent mode — either way, the AI understands your template structure, makes changes, and takes screenshots to verify the result.
The AI Actually Sees Your Design
This isn't blind text manipulation. The agent captures a screenshot of your template before and after changes, analyzes the visual output, and course-corrects if something looks off.
It understands:
- Layout and spacing — Element positions, dimensions, and alignment
- Typography — Font families, sizes, weights, and line heights
- Color — Hex values, contrast, and visual hierarchy
- Multi-page templates — Applies consistent changes across all pages
Batch Changes in One Shot
Need to update fonts across 10 elements, reposition everything, and change the background? The agent batches all operations into a single atomic update. No flickering, no partial states.
"Switch all text to Inter, increase font sizes by 20%,
and add a warm gradient background"One prompt. Every element updated.
Built for Automation Workflows
If you're using Orshot templates with the API, the extension helps you:
- Design visually — Edit templates in the studio panel
- Parameterize — Mark elements as dynamic so they can be swapped via API
- Generate code — Ask the agent to write rendering code in your language of choice
- Test — Preview renders without leaving VS Code
The extension is free and works with any Orshot plan.
