auth: oauth is all Hermes needs — it handles discovery, dynamic client registration, PKCE and token refresh itself. If you edited the YAML by hand, run hermes mcp login orshot from a fresh terminal: an in-session config reload times out after 30 seconds, which is not long enough to finish the browser flow.

Using Orshot with Hermes

Which Hermes config file does Orshot go in?

~/.hermes/config.yaml, under the mcp_servers key. Give it a url and auth: oauth — there is no local process to install.

Do I need an API key for Orshot in Hermes?

No. Orshot's MCP server supports dynamic client registration, so auth: oauth is enough — Hermes handles discovery, PKCE, token exchange and refresh on its own. You can pass a workspace API key as a bearer header instead if you prefer.

My Hermes OAuth login keeps timing out, why?

Editing ~/.hermes/config.yaml inside a running session triggers an auto-reload with a 30 second timeout, which is not long enough to finish a browser flow. Add the entry, then run `hermes mcp login orshot` from a fresh terminal — that waits the full five minutes.

Can Hermes render on a schedule with Orshot?

Yes. Hermes can run tasks on a cron schedule, so it can call Orshot to render a daily or weekly graphic from your template and deliver it without you prompting each time.

What can Hermes do with Orshot once connected?
